Slab Settlement: The concrete surface pitched in various directions and was pulling away from the finish work. It was believed that a broken utility line eroded the soil out from underneath the floor, allowing the concrete above to settle. As the area was within a busy convenience store, a typical replacement approach would have been greatly inconvenient to the facility.
EFT Solution: Polyurethane foam injections were performed to raise the settled concrete. A lightweight foam was injected through penny-sized holes in the floor. The liquid polyurethane expanded to over 1000% of original volume, effectively lifting floor from below. The concrete raising work took three days to complete.
